NYU-SCPS Career Workshops Aimed to Help Find and Define "You"

Available through NYU-SCPS Office of Career Management, May 1st and 5th

Losing a job can be a devastating experience, but job termination can provide a push toward a more authentic and fulfilled you. For those who may be switching careers and need help identifying all the skills they’ve acquired through career and life experiences or for those who may need a little morale boost, the NYU-SCPS Office of Career Management is presenting two career workshops: “What Now? Turning Job Loss into Opportunity” with career expert Kristina Leonardi and “Identifying Your Transferable Skills” with career expert Charna Flanzer. Both workshops aim to help broaden your perception about your career/life path and how to make the most out of a job loss situation.

Identifying Your Transferable Skills

Friday, May 1, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Woolworth Building, Public Assembly Room, 15 Barclay Street, 4th Floor

This workshop will be facilitated by our career coach and job search strategist Charna Flanzer, who will provide a framework for systematically learning how to identify and capitalize on all the skills you have acquired throughout your life experiences and how highlighting these skills can become a powerful marketing tool for transitioning into your desired next step.

What Now? Turning Job Loss into Opportunity
Tuesday, May 5 from 3:00 – 5:00pm
The Midtown Center, 11 West 42nd Street, Rm 1027

This workshop will be facilitated by our career/life coach Kristina Leonardi, adjunct instructor at NYU-SCPS and founder/director of The Women's Mosaic®, and will give participants a better understand of how you can shift your perception about your career/life path and make the most out of a job loss. Topics also to be discussed include understanding and accepting the why’s and how’s of losing a job, recognizing it as an opportunity for growth, and how to prepare for and prevent a future loss.
