Final Panelists Sign on For First Annual NYU Schack Conference on Sustainable Real Estate

Spring Conference to Bring Top Execs Together on Tuesday, February 22nd

NEW YORK, February 14, 2011 - The Center for the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate today announced that an additional roster of high-profile speakers will participate at the first annual Conference on Sustainable Real Estate on February 22nd. Among the esteemed speakers: Dr. Young Lee, a senior researcher from IBM; Dr. Daniel Walsh, the director of the NYC Department of Environmental Remediation; Melissa Burch of development firm Forest City Ratner; and Dr. Chris Pyke, U.S. Green Building Council research director, will all converge with other real estate industry, academia, and public sector leaders at the event.

The first annual Conference on Sustainable Real Estate will provide an outstanding forum to exchange ideas and identify new opportunities for sustainable buildings, infrastructure, finance and development.

This year’s Conference – “Building the Smart City: Removing Barriers, Fostering Innovation” – will reflect the critical importance of innovative strategies in the design, development, financing, and management of the built environment. Speakers will demonstrate how it is possible to improve decision-making and achieve positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes through the use of real-time information and data analysis.

Leading experts will discuss the emerging frontiers of technological innovation and real-world case studies that illustrate “best practices” for sustainable buildings and development. The Conference will frame these discussions in the context of the current economic crisis, rising energy costs, and the global mandate to reduce carbon emissions.
