NEW YORK, November 3, 2011 – The Tisch Center Alumni Society – the alumni organization for graduates of the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies (NYU-SCPS) – has named Dan Flannery, COO of Morgans Hotel Group, its 2011 “Distinguished Leader.” The award recognizes his long-standing, professional contributions to the Center and its faculty, students, and alumni.
Flannery will receive this honor on November 15 at the Tisch Center Alumni Society Alumni Reception at the New York Marriott Marquis.
“Dan Flannery has been a steadfast supporter of our students to prepare them to be future leaders of our industries,” said Bjorn Hanson, divisional dean and HVS Chair, NYU-SCPS Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management. “His longstanding generosity and devotion to our students and the Tisch Center makes him a wonderful choice for this honor.”
In addition to his work with Morgans Hotel Group, Flannery has guest lectured at the Tisch Center for the past seven years. He championed The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park NYU-SCPS Tisch Center Internship program, which is recognized as a coveted professional development program in our industries. He is also a recognized leader among the Tisch Center faculty, who regularly invite him to deliver guest lectures, speak at key Tisch Center events, serve as a resource for class projects, and mentor hospitality students and alumni.
Executives from the hospitality, tourism, and sports industries are welcome to attend the November 15th event honoring Flannery, which will include a silent auction for luxury gift packages, including hotel packages, tickets to sports events, private tours, rare wines, and a registration to the 34th Annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference.
The Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management, one of several comprehensive academic divisions within NYU-SCPS, offers undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in hospitality, tourism, and sports business, and is host to the annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference.
