NYU Schack's 46th Annual Conference On Capital Markets Features New 'Battle of the Titans' Keynote Panel

Panels to focus on opportunities, sovereign debt, ongoing impact of the U.S. financial crisis, and more

NEW YORK, October 15, 2013—The NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate will host its 46th Annual Conference on Capital Markets in Real Estate titled We're Back: Leadership's Guide to Capturing Opportunities in the Global Real Estate Markets on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at The Pierre. Among the exciting changes to the agenda this year, the conference will include a new "Battle of the Titans" keynote panel. Six thought-provoking panels, plus a one-on-one session, will cover various topics in capital markets including new opportunities, sovereign debt, the ongoing impact of the U.S. financial crisis and other current trends in the marketplace.  

The Battle of the Titans panel, "Mega Developments in the Magical City of Oz," will feature real estate luminaries David R. Greenbaum, President, New York Division, Vornado Realty Trust; Marty S. Burger, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Silverstein Properties, Inc.; L. Jay Cross, President, Related Hudson Yards; MaryAnne Gilmartin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Forest City Ratner Companies; and Dennis Friedrich, Chief Executive Officer, Brookfield Office Properties.

This year's conference chair is Robert S. Blumenthal
 Managing Director, Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and Executive Committee Member, NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. Co-chairs are: Jeffrey A. Barclay Managing Director, Goldman, Sachs & Co.; Executive Committee Member, NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate; Richard A. Kessler Chief Operating Officer, Benenson Capital Partners, LLC; Executive Committee Member and Adjunct Associate Professor, NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate; and John Z. Kukral President and Chief Executive Officer, Northwood Investors.

Jonathan D. Gray, Global Head of Real Estate, Blackstone, will be featured in the one-on-one panel moderated by James D. Kuhn, president of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and chairman of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate Advisory Board.

This year's "NYC: We Are the Golden Apple" panel will focus on the challenges and opportunities for continued supremacy in real estate markets. As in previous years, this panel will close out the conference with New York City real estate royalty, including Marc Holliday, Chief Executive Officer of SL Green Realty; William L. Mack, Chairman of Mack Real Estate Group; Scott Rechler, Chairman and Chief Executive Office, RXR Realty LLC, and  Vice Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's Senior Representative on the Board); William C. Rudin, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rudin Management Company, Inc.; and Larry A. Silverstein, president and Chief Executive Officer of Silverstein Properties, Inc. and Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate. This panel will be moderated by Robert S. Blumenthal.

Other panels featuring the industry's leaders will focus on liquidity, international equity and sovereign investment funds, permanent capital and structured finance, global real estate outlook and the next generation of young drivers of equity.

The NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate (scps.nyu.edu/schack) was founded in 1967, at the initiative of prominent real estate leaders who encouraged NYU to establish an academic center that provided an educational foundation for professionals within their industry.
