Confirmed Speakers for the February 26th Event Include William G. Lashbrook of PNC Real Estate, Richard T. Anderson of the New York Building Congress, and John Gilbert of Rudin Management Company, Inc.

NEW YORK, February 17, 2015 – The NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate Center for the Sustainable Built Environment (sps.nyu.edu/sbe) will host the 5th Annual Conference on Sustainable Real Estate on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Titled “From Sustainability to Resilience: The Role of Certification Programs and the Emergence of New Market Drivers,” the Conference is designed to stimulate the industry to expand upon its successes, strengthen the outcomes of emerging practices in operations and investment, and develop a coordinated roadmap to address the acknowledged call for the integration of practices in sustainability and resilience.

The real estate industry’s 15-year adoption of sustainability practices is illustrated by the more than 24 billion square feet of ENERGY STAR® and six billion square feet of LEED® and Green Globes® certifications. More recently there has been a growing awareness of the importance of resilience. This period has been punctuated by climate events, including hurricanes, droughts, heat waves, and firestorms of unprecedented scale. In response, there have been increased levels of government assistance and insurance industry payouts.

Panelists who will lend their expertise on these topics include those in REITs, property management, institutional investment, infrastructure, and construction. Confirmed speakers include: Richard T. Anderson (New York Building Congress), John Gilbert (Rudin Management Company, Inc.), Eric Duchon (Cushman & Wakefield), Jonathan Flaherty (Tishman Speyer), Ari Frankel (Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management), Jean Lupinacci (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), Sukanya Paciorek (Vornado Realty Trust), Kurt Padavano (Advance Realty Development, LLC), David L. Pogue (CBRE), and Nicholas E. Stolatis (TIAA-CREF).

The morning keynote speaker will be William G. Lashbrook, senior vice president, PNC Real Estate; he will discuss the achievements and progress of sustainability in real estate and give insights into the future of sustainability, resilience, and the green marketplace. Rosemary Scanlon, divisional dean of the NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate will offer welcoming remarks, Stuart Brodsky, clinical assistant professor and director of the Schack Institute’s Center for the Sustainable Built Environment, will deliver the introduction, and Patricia Lancaster, clinical professor at the Schack Institute, will moderate the closing panel.
