Professional English Program
These part-time courses are designed to address the specific needs of international professionals, with classes meeting in the evening or on Saturdays to accommodate the busy schedules of students. With a wide variety of offerings—from accent correction to business writing—our program focuses on helping students to develop the skills necessary to succeed in their careers and to function comfortably in more casual settings. Instruction is offered by highly qualified teachers in supportive, small-group settings that provide intensive, individualized feedback on the use of language, whether that is in leading discussions, making oral presentations, or writing and revising papers.
Most evening and Saturday courses run for 13-week terms beginning in September and in February. In the summer, they run for 12 weeks beginning in late May. Registration opens about two months before the beginning of each term. Please note that evening classes are held downtown in the Woolworth Building, while Saturday classes are held at 7 East 12th Street.
If individual courses do not appear below, please call the American Language Institute (ALI) at 212-998-1635 or 212-992-8331 for more information, or check back again two months prior to the beginning of the next term, when all of the Professional English Program courses will be available for registration and will be listed here.
