About

In our globalized society, proficiency in a foreign language can be the key to unlocking new career opportunities or to advancing professionally. The NYU-SCPS Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting program offers a master’s-level program in translation, and noncredit certificates and courses for those who require language and/or translation skills for their work, as well as for those who seek to learn a language for personal enrichment.

The M.S. in Translation with study options in French to English, Spanish to English, and Chinese to English, prepares you to become an effective professional translator by providing an in-depth overview of translation theory, while also addressing the more practical aspects of translation as applied to a variety of professional fields.

Noncredit certificate programs increase professional demand and provide valuable résumé credentials through language training in Arabic, Classical Languages, East Asian Languages, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese, Middle Eastern Languages, Modern Greek, Portuguese, Russian, Scandinavian Languages, Slavic Languages, and Spanish, as well as specialized instruction in Court Interpreting: Spanish/English, Medical Interpreting, and Translation.

Singular, noncredit courses provide those who are interested in enriching their lives by learning a language, with the ability to do so in a stimulating, supportive environment.
