Center for Global Affairs

EDUCATING THROUGH GLOBAL THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

The Center for Global Affairs (CGA) prepares the next generation of leaders in international relations to address critical global issues and to champion social justice, equality, global security, and sustainability.

A vibrant, international educational community, located in the heart of New York City—home to the United Nations—the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs (CGA) plays an invaluable role in enlightening and inspiring those who truly wish to make a difference. Our graduate degree programs, continuing education offerings, public events, and global initiatives provide the NYU thought leadership that sets us apart and affords the deep knowledge and global insight to navigate in a complex and changing world.

A Center of International Innovation

The Peace Research and Education Program (PREP) works at the intersection of higher education and international peacebuilding. It supports local networks of peacebuilders as a catalyst for change.

The Initiative for the Study of Emerging Threats (ISET) focuses on research by CGA faculty members, students, and partners who consider ways to prepare for potential transnational security threats.

This NEW virtual lab focuses on the impact of current and projected climatic changes and other stressors on food, water, energy security, environmental justice, and economic development.

Experts from a diverse range of specializations attend scenario-planning workshops, during which they build, analyze, and react to these scenarios. These exercises serve to enhance foreign policy by improving policymakers’ understanding of, and reaction to, change.

Consulting practicums place students in real world situations, working under faculty supervision on projects of immediate importance and serve as a key element in our commitment to bridge classroom learning with practical applications.

These immersive courses allow students to engage in comprehensive research abroad and provide exposure to speakers and organizations to provide on-the-ground context and insight while also growing professional networks.

The Center Global Affairs is pleased to announce the Afghan Crisis Scholarship, which will be awarded to a student whose graduate studies in Afghanistan were prevented or interrupted by the Taliban takeover in August 2021, because of their gender, ethnicity, marital status, sexuality, or because of prohibitions on the substantive focus of their academic interests.
