Welcome to the Center for Global Affairs, one of the most exciting and dynamic global programs to emerge on the NYU landscape: a program where the latest global trends and critical issues are examined and vigorously debated in the classroom and at public events; a program where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities come together to explore how to make our world a better and more just place; a program that embraces a world where diplomacy and global transactions occur in a 21st-century milieu comprised of state and non-state actors.
Our mission is straightforward: to create a community of global citizens in lower Manhattan—a community of individuals capable of changing the world. Some might say this is a terribly bold aim for an academic program. Nonetheless, we would have it no other way. Our leading-edge M.S. in Global Affairs program, year-round continuing-education program, and provocative public events series combine to create an environment where everyone with an interest in global affairs can find a place to contribute and learn.
Those who craft these programs are scholars and practitioners, individuals who have had direct experience in the global arena. Everyone at the Center is passionate, enthusiastic, and committed to our ambitious global agenda.
I feel fortunate to be part of a team that is creating a new paradigm in global affairs education. I invite you to join us.
Your fellow global citizen,
Vera Jelinek, B.A., M.A., Ph.D.
