M.S. in Global Affairs
Alumna, Class of 2008
After Francesca Bellù moved from Italy to the United States several years ago to complete a master’s degree in communications, she found herself increasingly drawn to the field of international relations. The NYU-SCPS M.S. in Global Affairs provided her with the educational background she needed to pursue a career in this field. Not only did she excel scholastically, earning the Global Affairs Excellence and Achievement Award, but her studies prepared her for the biggest interview of her life—a competitive exam for a position with Italy’s mission to the United Nations, which she passed with flying colors.
"The M.S. in Global Affairs emphasizes many other actors besides nation-states, including NGOs, market forces, and the United Nations," she notes, speaking from her office at United Nations Plaza in Manhattan. Of particular value to her course of study was the seminar titled Security Policy: Issues and Challenges, her master’s thesis on America’s nuclear pact with India, the international makeup of the student body, and the accessibility of the professors at the Center for Global Affairs.
