Curriculum

The online MS in Professional Writing integrates theory, analysis, and hands-on experience to prepare you to become a multidimensional communications professional who is equipped with excellent writing skills, communications strategies, and expertise in current and emerging technologies. This 36-credit full- or part-time program of study is offered online; it can be completed with full-time study in three semesters. The program offers a curriculum that prepares you for the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s professional writing and communications environment. These challenges are met by integrating a rigorous writing curriculum that helps you to develop a specialized area of expertise, while exploring the theory and practice of digital technologies, information science, and design. The curriculum provides many opportunities to build a portfolio of professional-quality samples and to work on projects that develop a range of professional skills.

Our accomplished and experienced faculty members bring their applied knowledge of professional writing to an engaging, online environment where you interact with other students and faculty members through weekly assignments and major projects that culminate in an impressive portfolio and a solid academic thesis.
