Summer Intensive in Creative Writing
During the summer, McGhee students have the opportunity to become a member of an international writers' community in New York City. The two-week Summer Intensive in Creative Writing allows McGhee students to earn four credits towards their degree. Mornings are spent in nationally recognized improvisation workshops taught by NYU-SCPS undergraduate faculty. Afternoons are spent in prose and poetry workshops with distinguished visiting writers. Evenings feature readings and lectures.
Students must apply for admission to the program. A maximum of 12 poets, 12 fiction writers, and 12 nonfiction writers will be chosen to participate. Participants should have some prior coursework in poetry or prose. Students may apply on a credit or noncredit basis. Those taking the course for credit will be asked to submit additional written materials later in the summer.
