- Academic Support
McGhee faculty and staff members are committed to ensuring your success. Comprehensive support services can help you to meet any challenges that may impact your studies, whether they are of an academic, financial, work, or health-related nature. At McGhee, we are sensitive to the concerns of students and are eager to answer your questions and to support your progress.
Advising
Staffed by professional advisors with advanced degrees, the McGhee Advising Office is dedicated to helping students to navigate through their educational experience successfully. All new students are assigned an academic advisor who provides assistance, support, and a personal connection to the University.
Your advisor will engage you in a collaborative process to address your needs and to learn about your educational preferences. He/she can discuss any concerns or questions about academic and career goals, degree requirements, student services, and School and University-wide resources. Advisors:
- Discuss your education and career goals and objectives
- Track your academic progress and ensure that you are fulfilling degree requirements
- Provide guidance regarding majors, concentrations, electives, and general selection of courses
- Identify gaps in your education and help you to make decisions as to how they can best be addressed
Faculty Advisement
In addition to the support from the McGhee Advising Office, undergraduates benefit from one-on-one faculty advisement. A full-time faculty member in your program of study will help to guide you in your chosen major or concentration. Drawing upon their own knowledge and experience, faculty advisors provide discipline-specific advice to broaden your horizons and to help you to define your post-graduation goals.
Tutoring
McGhee Tutoring Service offers one-on-one tutoring sessions at no charge to McGhee students. Tutors act as learning partners who support your academic progress, and are available at times that fit your busy schedule. Students take advantage of our expert tutors who help them to get started on and to work through assignments and to clarify and review material covered in class.
