Which Program Is Right for You?

Ideally, you can have the best of both worlds: spend the summer at the Summer Publishing Institute gaining an introduction to publishing, and then enter the graduate program already with credit for the equivalent of some introductory graduate courses.

If that’s not possible, then ask yourself: Which program best meets my needs, budget, and goals?

Summer Publishing Institute (SPI)

The Center's annual Summer Publishing Institute immerses students in an intense, six-week study of media—including magazine, book, and digital publishing—that combines workshops, presentations, and practical learning of key computer programs used by publishers. Faculty members and guest speakers include leading figures in publishing. Students create mock book imprints and magazine/digital media brands, working in teams. Outside the classroom, students visit top media companies and independent bookstores. Career panels, résumé review sessions, mock interviews, and a career fair attended by major media companies help students to find entry-level positions in the industry.
