The Center for Publishing offers a wide variety of special event programming that provides many opportunities to learn from industry leaders as they discuss the challenges and the opportunities of an evolving publishing industry. Workshops, panel discussions, and guest lectures connect you with senior-level executives and alumni, and deepen your understanding of current trends while cultivating a network of professional contacts. Site visits to major book, magazine, and digital media companies provide inside knowledge of business practices and an opportunity to meet with top executives. Recent activities have included a private meeting with Random House, Inc. Chairman and CEO Markus Dohle in the company’s New York headquarters; an opportunity to design the cover of Time Out New York at the offices of the Manhattan weekly magazine; a talk with leading book buyers at Barnes & Noble’s flagship Union Square store; and a trip to Google headquarters.
You also may attend special events, conferences, programs, and invitational seminars organized by other academic units within NYU-SCPS, as well as those hosted by other schools within NYU.
