M.S. in Real Estate
Alumna, Class of 2009
Shifting from corporate finance at Citigroup to planning real estate development for the City of New York seems like a leap—but for Lisa Zheng, it was a smooth transition, thanks to the M.S. in Real Estate program at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate.
"After four months of part-time study, I decided to leave my job to attend classes full-time," says Zheng. The Risk and Portfolio Management course afforded her the opportunity to travel to Amsterdam, and the Seminar in Community Development allowed her to gain real-world experience by designing a mixed-use project in Newark. Along the way, Zheng created a peer-mentoring program, which earned her the Institute’s Lambda Alpha Distinguished Service Award. Mid-degree, she landed an internship at a local development corporation, which led to a job offer at New York City’s Economic Development Corporation. "The M.S. in Real Estate provided me with the knowledge and the hands-on experience to land a job prior to graduation. What more could I ask?"
