The NYUSPS Urban Lab fosters thought leadership and develops the best practices that serve to shape real estate development and to explore and address unique challenges facing cities around the world. Working with real estate developers, city practitioners, and students, the Lab focuses on delivering market-based solutions designed to build greater community prosperity and competitiveness. The Lab's key activities include:

  • Generating applied research reports, case studies, and policies that impact the real estate industry and urban development
  • Hosting events that showcase the Lab's research and that bring together thought leaders to discuss pressing urban issues
  • Housing an Urban Fellows program that features leading researchers, real estate developers, civic leaders, and economic development practitioners
  • Offering a suite of professional development training programs that include advanced diplomas, career advancement courses, and workshops

The Urban Lab draws from multidisciplinary faculty members who teach within the NYU School of Professional Studies Schack Institute of Real Estate as well as other NYUSPS units including the Tisch Institute for Sports Management, Media, and Business and the Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism.
