Core and Major Curriculum

Tisch Center students take 60 credits of Liberal Arts Core courses at NYU’s central Washington Square campus, with myriad opportunities to study abroad. The sequence of study is designed to sharpen reading comprehension and writing skills, elevate creative and critical thinking capacities, and enhance social and cultural understanding.
Notes:
- Tisch Center students have the option of pursuing an NYU Minor with the department approval. Eight units of the Minor can fulfill the Social Science, Humanities, or General Electives.
- Students can Study Abroad in their second semester of their sophomore year. The ability to Study Abroad for a semester is dependent on approval from the NYU Global Programs office. Study Abroad requires and application process.
- Students must declare a concentration upon completion of 48 units.
- Internship I is 300 hours and Internship II 600 hours.

Professional Studies Requirements
Beginning freshman year, undergraduates pursue 68 professional credits—more than half of the degree requirements—studying the business of hospitality and tourism or the business of sports. Students actively develop real-world expertise during a total of 600 hours of industry internships at two to four organizations where they learn, shadow, work, and develop professionally.
Students are required to take all the courses listed below.
