Welcome to the NYU High School Academy at the NYU School of Professional Studies! We are excited that you will be joining us this summer. This program provides a unique opportunity for high school students to explore career options in a professionally oriented environment.

To ensure that your time with us is both informative and enjoyable, we have provided the following information to help you prepare for what we know will be the educational experience of a lifetime. Please read this information carefully.

Program Calendar

The summer program offers three sessions. Students enroll in one course per session and may attend multiple sessions. Attendance at all class sessions and participation in all aspects of the program are required for successful completion. All classes are held at the NYU School of Professional Studies building, which is located at 7 East 12th Street. Field trips and outings throughout the city are part of the curriculum for many of the NYU High School Academy classes.

Each session of the program begins with a student orientation that takes place at 3 p.m. on the Sunday prior to the start of classes. Attending orientation is mandatory and will help you to become grounded in both the academics and the day-to-day routine.

2. Register with the Moses Center (optional)

NYU is committed to providing equal educational opportunity and participation for all students in the NYU High School Academy at the NYU School of Professional Studies. Students with questions concerning disabilities and available support services should contact and register with the NYU Moses Center for Students with Disabilities prior to the start of the program.

The Moses Center will determine a student's qualified disability status and will assist the student in obtaining appropriate services. These services vary depending upon need, but can include in-class assistance, alternative final projects, and transportation around campus for students with physical disabilities or temporary injuries. Students are encouraged to contact the Moses Center as soon as they are admitted to the program to afford that office sufficient time to evaluate needs and to arrange for services prior to the start of the summer semester.

3. Submit Your NYUCard Photo Online

All students must have an NYUCard. The NYUCard is a multipurpose identification card that is issued to all students. It grants you access to NYU buildings, residence halls, and resources and services.

To receive your card, submit your ID photo online at https://photoid.nyu.edu/. Your photo will be reviewed by the NYU Card Center staff, and once approved, you can pick up your card in person at the NYU Card Center located at 7 Washington Place. You must bring a photo ID with you to claim your NYUCard.

You should acquire your NYUCard before your first class on Monday so you can have access to the NYU building where your class will take place. If you are in the New York City area, we recommend you pick up your card the week before classes start, because the Card Center will likely be very busy on the first day of class. If you will not be in the campus area before classes begin, you can pick up your NYUCard during the Sunday when housing check-in and orientation take place.

Things to Remember

Field trips and outings are part of the curriculum for many of the NYU High School Academy classes. Students should come prepared to walk and to be outside on hot summer days. Please remember to pack comfortable, walking shoes, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a hat.

Evening and weekend programs outside of class time are covered by the program fee all students pay. This fee covers the cost of programs, but it does not include personal expenses, such as souvenirs or transportation costs. Students should budget for any additional costs they anticipate.

Typically, travel throughout the city is by subway or bus. Students are required to purchase a metro card to access NYC public transit.

After the Program

Request a Transcript
