Ensuring that NYU-SCPS curricula are aligned with the ever-evolving expectations of industry practice is central to the School’s mission of providing its students with the knowledge and the skills needed to advance in their professions and in their communities. With virtually every field now taking on an increasingly global dimension, the School has worked diligently to expand its own international activities to provide students with a multidimensional, global education that serves to broaden their perspective and to enhance their learning experience. In addition, the School has developed numerous partnerships around the world with institutions of higher learning, corporations, and nonprofit organizations that expand research opportunities and provide the basis for a continuous exchange of ideas among faculty members and students across the globe.

A McGhee education prepares you for the challenges and the opportunities of a globalized world, and studying abroad facilitates the valuable exchange of knowledge across international boundaries, develops important intercultural skills, and deepens your understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. As a McGhee student, you will have extensive opportunities to study abroad through McGhee's own unique travel programs or the University’s 10 international academic centers, as well as its portal campus in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

McGhee Travel/Study Abroad

McGhee makes it possible for working (or otherwise obligated) students who have limited time, but boundless curiosity, to study abroad. Faculty-led, intensive, one- to two-week long programs offer condensed formats that allow you to study abroad during vacation time from work. Through these international seminars and study tours, your understanding of world history and cultural achievements will be enriched through hands-on activities, visiting and participating in lectures at historic sites, attending first-run stage productions in London's West End, or exploring the intersection of environmental issues and development by traveling to wildlife habitats in East Africa.

Recent travel/study abroad opportunities have included:

  • Al Andalus: The Muslim Legacy of Medieval Spain
  • Field Studies: East Africa
  • From Commune to City—State in Tuscany
  • Interdisciplinary Design: The Bauhaus Stage From Tradition to Digital Space
  • Modern British Drama in London

NYU Study Abroad Opportunities

Qualified full-time McGhee students who can commit to a full semester of study abroad are eligible to study with other NYU undergraduates at the NYU portal campus in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, or at one of the NYU international academic centers, including:

You will consult closely with the NYU Office of Global Programs, and McGhee faculty members and advisors, to plan a global study experience that best matches your personal interests and academic program requirements.
