At NYU-SCPS, student clubs reflect the professional passions and creative pursuits of our students themselves, and form the foundation of our student community. For McGhee students, they serve to integrate you further into the University community; enhance your academic and social experience; and foster life-long relationships, networking opportunities, and a strong sense of School community.
A sampling of McGhee clubs includes:
- Culture Club (Anthropology/Sociology)
- D/ComM (Digital Communications and Media)
- Economics Club—A recent event was titled: Let Your Degree Work For You: How to Maximize Your Marketability
- The FORC’S Organization (Information Systems Management)
- History Club
- International Studies Club
- Media Studies Club
- New York Literary Club—A recent event hosted author and activist Dr. Nawal El Saadawi on the Egyptian Revolution [PDF]
- Psychology Club—A recent event featured a book talk with three-time Emmy Award winner, veteran TV news anchor and senior correspondent, Rita Crosby
- Real Estate Club
- Writing Club
McGhee clubs also collaborate with other student groups across NYU-SCPS to offer additional opportunities for professional development, community service, and relationship building with successful alumni.
The Student Council, with support from the NYU-SCPS Office of Student Life, works to enhance student life at NYU-SCPS. Members of the Student Council act as advocates for students, bringing their ideas and concerns to faculty members and administrative leadership, serving as an information resource, and providing opportunities to interact with peers from across NYU-SCPS and NYU. In addition, the Student Council oversees club activities and their funding.
The Student Council hosts social events and industry specific—as well as cross-disciplinary—community engagement opportunities, such as:
- Career seminars, graduate school information workshops, community service initiatives, and events that enhance networking opportunities and promote school spirit.
- Weekend programs that offer students easy (and free or affordable) access to the best of New York’s cultural institutions, and events. Enjoy museums, art galleries, cultural heritage tours, and classical music, as well as activities that embrace the City’s many traditions – from ice skating in Central Park and New York Knicks basketball games to Broadway shows, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and outdoor movie nights.
