Alumni Giving

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How are unrestricted gifts spent?

A: General Operating Expenditures

Student Financial Aid - Approximately 70% of all NYU students require financial aid in the form of loans, grants and scholarships. Support of the SCPS Annual Fund will enable SCPS to continue to attract the best and brightest students.

Faculty Development - To be competitive with our peer institutions, SCPS must continue to attract and retain world-class faculty. The SCPS Annual Fund provides resources that enable the School to recognize and reward its gifted academics.

Curriculum Enhancement - Students at SCPS gain in-depth knowledge of specific fields, applied problem solving, and leadership skills - all from a global perspective. The SCPS Annual Fund provides additional funding for ongoing curricular innovations.

Q: Why is unrestricted support important?

A: Unrestricted support of the SCPS Annual Fund is vital to our future flexibility. While we need capital gifts, in a constantly changing economy, we also need unrestricted funds that can be used by the School's administration when new opportunities arise. We need to build the broadest possible base of alumni support to ensure our future strength. That is why we have a goal of increasing our alumni participation, thereby expanding our annual funding base permanently.

Q: Have I benefited from the SCPS Annual Fund?

A: The cost of a SCPS education exceeds the School's revenue from tuition and the endowment. The generosity of each generation of alumni helps a new generation of students attend the School. The SCPS Annual Fund fuels innovations in academic programs. All alumni and students benefit from generous gifts to the School.
