"It was really the jump start I needed for my career."
I teach two courses at the Tisch Center’s Tourism program—the same program I graduated from. I had worked in the tourism industry for a few years and realized that the time had come for me to expand my knowledge and get a degree in the industry I was passionate about. I picked NYU because it offered me the exact program and curriculum I was looking for and allowed me to combine studies with my job. I’d been working in the Caribbean and it was really the jump start I needed for my career here in the U.S.
What better place to study hospitality and tourism than in New York City, where there are endless opportunities for internships, guest speakers, field visits, lecture series, alumni events, and symposia? The networking opportunities are incredible and the faculty is made up of instructors working in the field, or dedicated academics, who are committed to giving students the best education possible. I also think that the international perspective—being with students from such a variety of countries and backgrounds—really gives the program an edge.
