MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Colleague,
Greetings from New York City. I'm pleased to welcome you to our English language program
though NYU's American Language Institute.
ALI has been a fixture at New York University since 1945. Our various programs of study,
including the Intensive Course in American English and Orientation, the Advanced Workshop Program,
and our Specialized Courses for Professionals, are all closely linked to the University, to our
Greenwich Village neighborhood, and to this great city.
We want our students (and our prospective students) to be aware of the vast resources available
to them at ALI and NYU. We have a large, full-time, professionally qualified faculty who
ensure that our programs focus on academic issues and provide a wide variety of intercultural
orientation and learning opportunities. We take pride in our focused language instruction: “Real”
English in New York.
Our international student advisor provides guidance for issues outside of the classroom,
including housing, university applications, visa information, personal plans, and future study.
Our goal: To enable our students to adapt to a rigorous university life and to immerse
themselves in the culture and excitement of one the world's most vibrant cities.
