EVALUATION AND REGISTRATION
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EVALUATION
The American Language Institute evaluates the English language proficiency of all students
prior to registration. This evaluation assesses grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and
writing and speaking abilities. It also includes a personal interview with Institute faculty for
the purposes of counseling and course selection.
THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE REPORT
Speakers of other languages often need an official statement of their English language
proficiency. At the student’s written request, this Institute report will be sent to a school,
organization, or sponsoring agency.
THE REGISTRATION PROCESS
Only students with a faculty advisor’s signed course recommendation may register. Students
must complete the registration process to be sure of a place in class. Registration includes:
- Completing registration forms
- Paying tuition and registration fees
- Receiving a validated class schedule
SPECIAL SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES
An international student advisor is available to counsel students about visas, as well as
academic and personal matters and facilitates student participation in the life of the University
and the city.
