American Language Institute
HOUSING
The University prepares information on off-campus housing in different areas of the city. The
American Language Institute also gives advice on housing and suitable locations. News of available
apartments is posted regularly in the ALI office. Limited university dormitory spaces are
available. If you would like to live in a dormitory, you must apply in writing to the American
Language Institute before coming to the United States. A nonrefundable deposit is required before
dormitory space can be reserved. We recommend that you apply as early as possible because dormitory
spaces cannot be guaranteed. Dormitory rooms are furnished with beds and mattresses, chests of
drawers, and chairs. However, each student must provide his or her own pillows, sheets, blankets,
towels, and personal necessities.
ESTIMATED COSTS
All program fees and University room and board charges must be paid at the time of
registration. The above figures do not include transportation, laundry, necessary personal
expenses, or entertainment. Total living and maintenance expenses are estimated at $1,800 per month
for students, whether living in a University dormitory or in private accommodations. All dates and
expenses are subject to change.
