"Just think of the opera, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions...."
I’ve taught Italian Cultural History and Italian Jewish History and for 23 years I have designed my own courses, with input from department advisors. I think this method provides faculty with an optimum environment in which to excel. It also attracts a student demographic that is very specific to NYU-SCPS. As a large, well-established university in an urban setting, our students are sophisticated, curious, and intelligent, with a willingness to engage and argue. In turn, they benefit from a high profile program located in one of the most ideal settings for a cultural historian. Just think of the opera, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions such as the Italian Cultural Institute and the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, home of the Department of Italian Studies at NYU.
