The celebrated American chef and food writer James Beard once said: "Food is our common ground, a universal experience."

One of the proud accomplishments of NYU's educational partnership with the James Beard Foundation is providing opportunities for students to partake in that universal experience through a growing array of food and wine courses. Each semester, we bring you courses to please the palate and expand your culinary vocabulary.

Explorations in food and wine broaden your gastronomic expertise and help you to develop an appreciation of subject matter that infuses and enriches our daily lives. Whether you're interested in great dining experiences at celebrated New York City restaurants, meeting an eclectic mix of food and wine aficionados, or acquiring behind-the-scenes know-how from industry insiders, you'll find culinary adventures that are sure to inform and delight.

Founded in 1986 by friends and colleagues of the late James Beard, "the father of American gastronomy," the Foundation provides a range of events and activities that applaud the world’s culinary masters and pay tribute to America's contribution to the creation of fine food.
