CERTIFICATE IN CHILDCARE MANAGEMENT

This certificate is designed to provide training for those who wish to become family day care providers in New York and those working toward the national Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. The program also serves as important training for parents and nannies, as well as infant and toddler caregivers and preschool teachers.

Upon completion of the program, students have attained the following:

  • Knowledge and understanding of child development for toddlers through five-year-olds.
  • Understanding of appropriate discipline (limit setting) for infants through five-year-olds.
  • Understanding of appropriate safety and nutritional issues for infants and young children.
  • Knowledge and methods of teaching appropriate learning activities to promote development of infants through five-year-olds.

This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete seven courses--four required and three electives.
