ANIMATION SUMMER INTENSIVE

Working with state-of-the-art software, gain a solid set of skills in computer animation and visual effects. Immerse yourself in a real-world production experience beginning with the creation of 3-D elements and ending with the digital manipulation of images using compositing tools. Students may enroll in any one week, two weeks (first and second or second and third), or all three weeks.

AREAS COVERED

Week One
June 2–6, 2008

  • Introduction to the various industries that use animation and the differences between traditional and computer animation.
  • Fundamentals of visual storytelling.
  • Model building.

Week Two
June 9–13, 2008

  • Rendering.
  • Lighting and keyframe Animation.
  • Character animation with Maya.

Week Three
June 16–20, 2008

  • Compositing and visual effects using After Effects.
  • Creation of alpha channels masks, color correction, transformations, layering, and image manipulation.
  • Professional development and practice in the specifics required for entry into the field.
