MICHAEL HOSENFELD: BIOGRAPHY


A native of Germany, Michael Hosenfeld joined New York University in 2002. As clinical associate professor and director of the M.S. in Digital Imaging and Design program, he teaches 3D Visual FX and Animation and supervises student thesis projects. He also is president of NYC ACM SIGGRAPH, the local chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH, the largest worldwide organization in the field of computer graphics.

Prior to coming to New York, Michael served as head of 3-D for Effectory, founded by Canadian c.o.r.e. digital pictures in Babelsberg/Berlin. He worked on 3D Visual FX for numerous international feature films and TV movies.

Hosenfeld holds the German equivalent to an M.F.A. in industrial design from the University of Essen, Germany. Trained in the tradition of the Bauhaus, he worked as a designer for Haus Dieck Design, the design branch of Ernsting & Partner Architects. He has received several national and international design awards.
