CERTIFICATE IN DIGITAL IMAGING AND PHOTOGRAPHY
This certificate introduces students to basic technical concepts and visual principles in photography such as f-stops, lenses, depth-of-field, and other fundamental skills relating to the composition of digital images. The program is ideal for novice commercial photographers, including event, wedding, portrait, and travel photographers, and photojournalists. Students learn how to produce higher-quality digital images and prepare their files for use in print or online.
Upon completion of the certificate program, students have the ability to:
- Apply basic technical concepts and visual principles when taking digital images.
- Understand the difference in file preparation requirements for outputting images for print and digital display, to better serve commercial needs and to successfully complete freelance assignments.
- Use Photoshop and Illustrator for digitally manipulating images, such as by retouching or manipulating clipping paths.
To earn the certificate, an average grade of B or higher is required, indicating successful completion of eight required courses.
This certificate has been revised. Students who began this certificate prior to fall 2011 have four years to complete the certificate according to the requirements in the NYU-SCPS Bulletin from the semester in which they began the program.
