CERTIFICATE IN INTERIOR DESIGN

If you have a flair for interior design, this program presents the fundamentals and provides hands-on training in the discipline of designing interiors. Learn all aspects of project design--space planning, fabric selection, drawings, furniture specification, accessories, design presentation, and setting up jobs within time and budget constraints.

Upon completion of the program, students possess:

  • An understanding of design fundamentals, including color and light theory.
  • Knowledge space planning and furniture layouts.
  • Ability to execute professional presentation skills (sketching and drafting) and knowledge of business practices.
  • Practice with mechanical drawing and drafting.
  • Ability to solve design problems and an understanding of the needs for different projects--from corporate to residential.
  • Understanding of human factors that impact design for interiors such as scale, materials, and structures.
  • Knowledge of materials and finishes used for various projects.

To earn the certificate, an average grade of B or higher is required indicating successful completion of the eight required courses.
