CERTIFICATE IN PRODUCT DESIGN
This certificate was created for students wishing to study product and industrial design. The two introductory courses teach students basic design skills and how to visually communicate their ideas. Following the completion of the introductory courses, students gain a basic knowledge of the various factors involved in product design, both for an individual product and when developing an entire line or group of related products, manufacturing processes and material surveys, and basic skills in the computer programs used by industry professionals.
Upon completion of the program, students possess:
An understanding of the design process. The ability to take a concept from idea through finished product. Proficiency with Solidworks software
This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete six required courses.
This certificate has been restructured. Students who began this certificate prior to fall 2007 have four years to complete their certificate according to the requirements in the SCPS bulletin the semester they began. Call an education advisor at (212) 998-7171 for more information.
