"The program offers the functional equivalent of a big bank credit-training program…so the professional standards are very high."

I teach courses within the NYU-SCPS Diploma Program in Credit Analysis, which is geared towards bankers. The program offers the functional equivalent of a big bank credit-training program, taught by industry experts, so the professional standards are very high. The overall focus is to help our students move ahead in their careers and for the past 25, the program has been doing just that for bankers from large institutions, foreign branches and agencies, finance companies, as well as regional and community banks.

I teach Managing a Commercial Loan Portfolio and Getting a Business Loan and the fact that my students are fellow bankers makes them easy to teach. They are already familiar with the industry and because they’re so anxious to move ahead they are eager to learn the practicalities of the lending business. Most of them are working full-time so our location, in the world center for banking, is the ideal place to learn the craft of commercial lending. As the headquarters for some 144 foreign branches and agencies, 135 state chartered banks, and 96 federal depository institutions holding an aggregate of some $2.3 trillion in assets, our students couldn’t get better exposure to the industry.
