Dear Prospective Student,
These are exciting times at SCPS. As one of eight academic units within the School, the Division of Programs in Business reflects a most ambitious consolidation of four previously freestanding areas in continuing education business programs, the former Division of Graduate Programs in Business, and other stand-alone programs and offerings in business-related disciplines.
This means we are home to four Master of Science degree programs, six graduate certificates, two diploma programs, and a multitude of continuing education programs and certificates, including preparatory programs for high-level professional certifications. In addition, the division hosts conferences, seminars, and industry practitioner series. It is the hub for providing corporate learning and training services to multinational corporations in the U.S. and abroad. Our graduate programs have approximately 600 students and we offer over 1,000 sections annually of continuing education courses in coaching, leadership and management, finance, law, taxation, marketing, public relations, advertising, accounting, and information technology. With classes scheduled on weeknights, weekends, and online, we are proud to be able to make a difference in the lives of several thousand people annually.
Approximately 2,000 professionals from all parts of the business sector attend our Division's events, and the Federal Taxation and State Taxation conferences are respectively among the most prestigious and highly-regarded tax conferences in the country.
We have five distinct departments in which our academic offerings are housed: Accounting, Taxation and Legal Programs, Finance, Integrated Marketing, Leadership and Human Capital Management, and Management and Technology. Each departmental chairperson is a full-time faculty member, who coordinates both degree-related and continuing education programs within the discipline. As entrepreneurial educators, our administrators and faculty are experienced in their respective professions and bring leading practitioner perspectives into the classroom.
Our programs offer a superb training ground for those who want to reach industry’s highest levels. This is the place where current and would-be business leaders come to learn how to handle complex challenges, to think outside of the box when managing diverse responsibilities, and to formulate and implement successful strategies. Earning certificates and other qualifications from NYU speaks volumes about you, while acquiring the skills, best practices, and real-world knowledge that enable you to excel at your job on a daily basis. The possibility of applying successfully completed coursework to new vistas of study such as certificates, professional certifications, or graduate programs reinforces our commitment to offer you the opportunity to build careers, not simply résumés.
For a person who has the desire to grow, to succeed, and to become a lifelong learner, the Division of Programs in Business is a place you can call home, because, regardless of the specific industry you are in, or what stage you are in your career, if you are self-motivated and self-disciplined you expect to be challenged. As the divisional dean, I ask you to see what we have to offer, take our courses, enroll in our programs, and expect… the expected.
Sincerely,
Anthony Davidson, B.B.A., M.B.A., Ph.D.
divisional dean and clinical professor,
Division of Programs in Business
