CERTIFICATE IN AUDIO PRODUCTION
Examine the artistry that makes good visuals great in film, video, broadcast, or on the Web. Learn how to mix and balance dialogue, sound effects, and music; and study the role of sound effects, Foley (the technical process of recording or altering sound for use in various entertainment forms), soundtrack choices, and post-production supervision. Industry professionals teach these courses through a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises using digital audio recording equipment and Pro Tools.
Upon completion of the program, students have attained the following skills:
- Familiarity with Pro Tools using 24-bit integrated digital recording, editing, processing, and mixing tools.
- Understanding of every phase of sound post-production, from input to final master.
- Knowledge of Pro Tools for nondestructive recording and editing, digital mixing, loop recording, editing during playback, fade-ins and -outs, playlists, and customization.
- Knowledge of how to conduct music research and procure previously mastered material.
- Ability to produce powerful soundtracks and convincing sound effects.
To earn the certificate, an average grade of B or higher is required indicating successful completion of the five required courses.
