CERTIFICATE IN DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION
Gather knowledge essential for documentary filmmaking. In this intermediate-level program, students have the opportunity to study various structural approaches to the contemporary documentary and apply them to an individual project. Understand the practical aspects of conceptualizing a story, budget, law, marketing and distribution. Acquire knowledge under the guidance of a faculty of industry professionals who emphasize the skills needed to attain work or produce independently in the industry today.
Upon completion of the program, students have the following:
- Skills in planning, budgeting, fundraising, and marketing.
- Understanding of markets in theatrical, television, international, educational, and DVD formats.
- The opportunity to produce a short documentary project.
Prerequisite: Students who do not have a technical foundation in production are advised to take the Certificate in Digital Video Production.
To earn the certificate, an average grade of B or higher is required indicating successful completion of five required courses.
