CERTIFICATE IN DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION
In this hands-on program, students learn how to direct and produce a documentary film. The curriculum includes in-depth training in digital cinematography, digital audio, and Final Cut Pro; and classes on modern documentary history, conceptualizing a story, and understanding the practical aspects of budgeting, legal issues, and distribution. Classes include guest speakers from all aspects of the profession. The program is led by a faculty of industry professionals who emphasize the skills needed to attain work or produce independently in the industry today.
Upon completion of the program, students have the following:
Ability to produce, direct, edit, and shoot principal digital photography for a documentary. Planning, budgeting, fundraising, production, editing, post-production, and marketing skills. Understanding of markets in theatrical, television, international, educational, and DVD formats.
This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete five required courses.
