CERTIFICATE IN VISUAL EFFECTS
Explore the fundamental principles of visual effects. From storyboards to compositing, learn how to create engaging visual imagery. This certificate emphasizes the computer generated effects component of special effects. Through hands-on practice, students have the opportunity to create and manipulate images for the integration of live-action footage and computer-generated imagery (CGI) then applying them to an individual VFX project.
Upon completion of the program, students acquire the following skills:
- Industry practices.
- Use of storyboarding and Animatics to conceive and visualize projects.
- Compositing techniques for special effects.
- VFX project workflow.
Prerequisite: It is recommended that students have fundamental skills in drawing and design. Students with no previous experience in those areas are advised to take 2D Design Principles/X36.9220 and Conceptualization/X36.9221.
To earn the certificate, an average grade of B or higher is required indicating successful completion of the six required courses.
This certificate, formerly called the Certificate in Visual Effects Compositing, has been restructured. Students who began this certificate prior to fall 2007 have four years to complete their certificate according to the requirements in the SCPS bulletin the semester they began.
