CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS FOR FINANCIAL PLANNERS

Each year, a growing number of people seek professional financial advice. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts substantial continued growth in career opportunities for financial planners through 2014* Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification is the credential consumers recognize, respect, and demand when choosing a financial planner.

With the introduction of stringent new rules in July 2008**, safeguarding clients’ financial interests, Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Certification is now, more than ever, a critical credential for professionals in the financial planning field.

Certification indicates to potential clients that they are choosing a financial planner adept in the theoretical and practical knowledge, who adheres to the strict code of professional conduct set out by the CFP® Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

Each CFP® Certification program at NYU-SCPS covers all 89 financial planning topics required by the CFP® Board of Standards and additional relevant topics. NYU-SCPS offers CFP® Certification in three distinct formats to accommodate your specific needs and scheduling:

CLASSROOM-BASED DELIVERY

• The seven-course Certificate in Financial Planning program that candidates have up to four years to complete.

WEB-DELIVERED FORMATS
Either option can be completed from the convenience of your personal computer.

• Live Online, Instructor-Led (nine month program)
• Self-Paced (nine months or less)

After completing an education program, students should plan on completing a review course for the CFP® Certification Examination. NYU-SCPS recommends students take The Dalton Review® for the CFP Exam.
