CERTIFICATES IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND FINANCE

In an era of instant global communications, interdependent economies, and dramatic international political developments, an understanding of the underlying economic, political, and social forces is critical. Under the instruction of industry experts, these programs are designed to equip players at all levels with the key skills of international business, as well as provide vital knowledge of U.S. business practices to international students.

NYU-SCPS offers three professional certificates to meet the needs of students who are new to the field, particularly those considering an M.B.A. program, as well as professionals who wish to advance their expertise in a particular area of specialization.

The Certificate in International Business and Finance is a foundation-focused program emphasizing core skills and competencies, which can be completed in nine months. Two Advanced Certificates in International Business and Finance build on the core certificate with specializations in either India, China, and Other Emerging Markets or Overseas Investing.

These programs cover the international financial system, including exchange-rate mechanisms, tariffs, and international trade issues, including:

  • How to identify cultural, economic, political, and social influences on the international business arena.
  • Basic concepts of multinational financial management and the impact of foreign exchange on cash flow
  • Legal, political, and economic frameworks of international markets, including the euro and eurocurrencies markets.
  • Key issues of international banking operations.
  • Central concepts in U.S. regulation of imports and exports.
  • Cross-cultural issues and key factors in import-export businesses.

The Certificate in International Business and Finance is awarded to students who have successfully completed the core courses. The Advanced Certificates in International Business and Finance require completion of the core courses, as well as three electives in the area of specialization.

International Money and Capital Markets/X51.9420 is no longer being offered, but it will count toward the certificate if previously taken. NOTE: Students who began working toward the International Business and Financial Certificate without specializations may complete their course of study in accordance with the requirements that were in effect at the time they commenced their studies with the University.
