French to English Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting is the preferred mode at numerous multilingual events because it saves time and allows for linguistic transference of information into more than one language at once. In this 80-hour professional certificate program, taught by experienced conference interpreters, students learn how to perform conference (simultaneous) interpreting at events ranging from large conferences (possibly at the United Nations) to smaller corporate ones. The skills students acquire in this program may also be used in court and medical interpreting settings. Students learn about the various conference interpreting settings, how to use simultaneous interpreting equipment, and several sets of commonly used terminology. Classes are held in our state-of-the-art language laboratory, which is also available for individual study.

WHO SHOULD ENROLL
Applicants must have superior French comprehension skills and native-level English speaking skills, and must pass an admissions test to be accepted into the program.
