ADVISORY BOARD SPOTLIGHT

marty-maloney "Teaching is simply sharing. Sharing what I learned decades ago, last week and that very afternoon. Media and communications are evolving rapidly minute-to-minute and as the big picture may get bigger, with each class the subject matter gets fine tuned and finally becomes clear enough to understand and apply."

Martin Maloney’s career in the printing, paper and graphic arts industry spans 40 years, and has touched every segment of the business.

Maloney started with Westinghouse Corporation, where he was a group advertising manager with responsibilities that included procurement of millions of dollars of printing.

In the early 70’s, Maloney entered the supplier side of the business as Vice President of Marketing for John Blair & Company’s newly formed Graphics Division. The Division comprised 14 subsidiaries including web and sheetfed printers, mailing and fulfillment companies, and John Blair Marketing (now News America), originator of the Sunday coupon FSI.

In the late 70’s, Maloney was recruited by Arcata Corporation. He started in the Publications Division, and later advanced to the post of Chief Marketing Officer for Publications, Books, Forest Products, and Arcata Corporate. He was involved with their LBO, which was the first billion dollar LBO.

In 1984, Maloney founded Broadford & Maloney Inc., the largest marketing and public relations firm serving the graphic arts industry. His clients have included HP Indigo, Xerox, Agfa, DuPont, Polaroid, RR Donnelley and The New York Times Forest Products Division.

Maloney is a former member of the Board of Directors of Cenveo, a billion + dollar commercial printer with 90 production facilities across the country.  He also serves on the Advisory Board of New York University’s M.A. in Graphic Communications Management and Technology and is Chairman of the Marketing Committee, as well as serving on the Board of the Association of Graphic Communicators and the International Board of Governors of Legatus.

In November 2004, Maloney assumed an additional responsibility as Executive Director of The Print Council, a marketing initiative jointly underwritten by printers, paper companies, suppliers, and end-users to promote printing and printed products. In January 2006 he was named to the Board of Directors of The Print Council and serves on their Executive Committee.

Broadford & Maloney Inc. conducts business internationally and is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut.
