CORE COURSES
Core courses provide you with the fundamental knowledge and skills that are essential for success in the profession. These courses focus on management techniques and strategies pertinent to the graphic communications industry, as well as print and emerging media.
ELECTIVES
To build on the strengths of the core courses, you select 19-21 credits from the list of electives that have been grouped into areas of study according to content. Students may also select, with advisement, up to two graduate courses (6 credits) in related fields from other SCPS graduate programs.
INDEPENDENT STUDY
An independent study provides you with the opportunity to learn more about a specific topic under the mentorship of faculty, advisory board members, and other top industry professionals. You may choose to develop an academic research project or complete an internship.
CAPSTONE PROJECT
The capstone project is your final assignment marking the conclusion of your master’s degree program. You select your own topic, most likely an issue related to your area of specialization, and conduct research under the guidance of a faculty member. You may also work with mentors from our advisory board. This is your opportunity to undertake an intensive exploration of some aspect of graphic communications. Ultimately, your completed project demonstrates your knowledge of the crucial role graphic communications plays in the management and technology of an organization.
STUDY ABROAD
We help our students find internships and work experiences abroad for which they receive academic credit. Two students will be working with CGI International this summer in London, for example, and will receive credit.
