CERTIFICATE IN IPHONE AND IPAD APP DEVELOPMENT

This certificate program provides a comprehensive set of courses in iPad and iPhone app development that takes the developer from concept through the implementation and marketing of iPad and iPhone apps. Students gain an in-depth knowledge of the iPad/iPhone applications development platform from a technological standpoint, as well as familiarity with the graphic design elements that are crucial to an attractive and highly functional app. Students also learn about website requirements for supporting well-designed iPad/iPhone apps and the marketing considerations to ensure successful acceptance of the resultant apps.

Upon completion of the program, students have the ability to:

• Develop code and applications that conform to specifications on the iPad and iPhone platforms.
• Unit-test programs and work through the quality assurance cycle.
• Utilize the iPhone's unique capabilities, such as gestures, the accelerometer, and the GPS interface.
• Apply the principles of visual design in the reduced display area of the iPad and iPhone.
• Apply concepts of marketing to the mobile environment to deliver information when users want it and in the form they find most useful.

This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete five courses--three required and two electives.

Students should have a good understanding of programming constructs, such as to use loops, if statements, and functions as implemented in languages like C, Java, JavaScript, PERL, PHP, Ruby, and others.
