DEAN'S HONORS LIST
At the end of each fall and spring semester, a Dean’s Honors List is compiled to recognize superior academic achievement. Students are eligible for Dean’s Honors if during a given semester they have completed at least 8 credits, obtained a grade point average of at least 3.7 and have no incomplete grades for that semester. If you become eligible for Dean’s List by virtue of a grade change or completion of an incomplete grade, you may request an amendment to your record before the end of the next semester. Contact the Advising Office to request the change.
DEPARTMENTAL HONORS
Departmental honors are awarded to students in the B.A. and B.S. degrees who demonstrate an outstanding Senior Project. Each semester, a faculty committee evaluates research papers that are nominated by Senior Project professors. The evaluation is based on a set of criteria that includes conceptualization and significance of the topic, creativity and originality, quality of research, precision of documentation, general organization, disciplinary competence, scope of knowledge, and adherence to proper writing conventions.
Departmental honors recipients become automatically eligible to be considered for the Elizabeth Burridge Award. This award honors the single outstanding research paper of the year and is given during the SCPS graduation convocation celebration.
LATIN HONORS
Latin honors are awarded to B.A. and B.S. graduates. The grade point average (GPA) cutoffs for each category are determined by the combined GPA distribution from the preceding academic year, all graduating classes included.
Visit the website of the NYU Office of the University Registrar for the complete policy and GPA cutoffs.
