A liberal arts degree prepares you for a variety of careers and professions by providing the analytical tools and writing skills necessary for success in today’s workplace. Liberal arts students become familiar with the great ideas, historical events, and social forces that have shaped the contemporary world. Ideas are presented in a global context to make the knowledge relevant to our increasingly interrelated cross-cultural environment. The Bachelor of Arts degree is the traditional requirement for graduate study in business, law, and specific academic fields.
When you enter the program, you declare a major in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Public Administration. Concentrations allow you to specialize within your major.
McGhee also offers rich resources drawn from other departments of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. These include intensive foreign language courses; film, television, and broadcasting courses; advanced digital applications and other leading-edge technology courses; as well as the summer study abroad program.
Toward the completion of your studies, you enroll in a required, four-credit graduation project that can involve a research paper in your area of concentration, an internship, or writing or producing a creative work.
McGhee Bachelor degrees consist of 128–130 credits. There are several pathways by which you may enter the programs:
- As a first-year student
- As a transfer student
- After completing a McGhee A.A. or A.A.S degree
