New York City is home to international corporations, financial institutions, small and large businesses, retailers, manufacturers, advertising agencies, research hospitals, publishers, galleries, and museums. For McGhee students, the professional world is not an abstraction; it is an integral part of their work and educational experience.
Greenwich Village: Our Campus, Our Neighborhood
No other urban university is surrounded by a more gracious neighborhood. Greenwich Village has been home to New York University for more than 170 years. While the Village has grown and evolved from its bohemian heyday of the early 1900s, it remains a distinct enclave in a big city. Home to artists, writers, and intellectuals, Greenwich Village is a neighborhood. You see well-known actors walking their children to school, hear talks by best-selling authors at local libraries, and gauge the future of young performers who try out their acts in Washington Square Park. There are treasures to be found in secondhand bookstores and experimental works to be seen in local theaters.
NYU’s Washington Square campus extends into the intellectual venues surrounding it. Academic discussions that begin in the classroom continue in nearby coffee shops, bookstores, and off-Broadway theatres. McGhee students are quick to take it all in, making the city an important part of their educational experience and their lives.
