B.A. in Social Sciences 2009
Brian Bullock came to New York from his native Utah to pursue a career in the financial services industry. Working in a sales role at such companies as Morgan Stanley and New York Life, he advised financial advisors on various insurance and annuity products and managed relationships with key corporate clients.
Yet, with all his success, Bullock says he knew the real key to advancement would be to complete an undergraduate degree. In 2005, he enrolled at McGhee—attracted by its quality education and convenient, part-time scheduling—with the intent of majoring in business and continuing up the corporate ladder.
While continuing to work fulltime, Bullock immersed himself in his studies. Then, a transformation quickly began. He realized a true passion for anthropology, the study of people and cultures. And, Bullock changed his life’s trajectory and is now pursuing a new career path in adult education.
In May 2009, Bullock graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with concentrations in Anthropology and Organizational Behavior. He was awarded McGhee’s Herbert Jaffa Award for service, and is a recipient of the NYU President’s Service Award (for his work on the McGhee Student Council) and the Founders Day Award.
With future plans for graduate study and possibly a career as a professor, Bullock recently began a new job as an enrollment counselor at Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies in Boston.
