Mary Sanders

B.A. in Sociology

[Part 1] | [Part 2]

Mary Sanders has worked in the higher education and nonprofit sectors for nearly two decades. She has worked at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and is now the executive assistant to New York Academy of Medicine President Jo Ivey Boufford.  In her current role, Sanders manages the executive office of one of the country’s oldest and prestigious scientific foundations.

Originally, she attended City University of New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice and went to work fulltime before completing her degree.  But Sanders retained the desire to finish her undergraduate degree.  And so, this busy wife, mother, and working professional added part-time study to her busy schedule and returned to school at McGhee.  In 2003, she graduated with a B.A. in Sociology.

In her spare time, Sanders volunteers for a variety of causes, such as helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  She also heads up a women’s support group and is a volunteer assistant director of a children’s group.
